Probably the most common request we receive is for whiter teeth. This can be achieved quite easily these days utilising a number of techniques. The simplest of these is bleaching. We fabricate a close fitting tray for your teeth which is worn for a hour a day for a week or two. The whitening gel will in most cases lighten the teeth two or three shades. If the teeth are a little “the worse for wear”, or unattractive, we may suggest Porcelain Veneers, which cover the front of the teeth and provide a brand new tooth surface for that smile makeover!.

White Fillings

We do not place amalgam (Mercury and Silver) fillings. There – we’ve got that off our chest! We prefer tooth coloured restorative materials.

There has been some concern expressed regarding the Mercury content of the “old” type of fillings, and we find that the durability and appearance of the newer restorations make them the first and only choice in our practice.

Crowns

When teeth are broken, weakened with large fillings or out of position, porcelain crowns may be fabricated to restore or improve the teeth. These add beauty and strength, and can usually be completed in two visits.
